The village of Hordle is about half-way  between Christchurch  and Lymington, on the south coast of England.  The parish reaches the Solent coast and in the north borders the New Forest. The spread of houses and farms in the parish, has always been scattered, clusters of houses at Tiptoe in the north and to Taddiford by the coast. There was no school until 1860. Many houses were built in the 1950`s and 60`s and the building contractors are again erecting new housing estates at the turn of the millennium, but Hordle is still rural with numerous green fields and garden nurseries.
